Hoffmann just made a reference to them and didn’t write a whole chapter as they are rare in NY and New England. While many are located on the western part of the US and Canada, there are some populations on the northeast from Long Island northward. Occasionally you can see a Barrow’s mixed up in a flock of Common Goldeneye, that are much more numerous in the northeast.
